The embassy and its network in Belgium
The embassy is currently led by Katarzyna Maria Skórzynska as chargé d’affaires a.i. (diplomatic rank: minister plenipotentiary). This is the bilateral embassy to the Kingdom of Belgium; missions to the European Union or NATO in Brussels are separate offices. Three honorary consulates support Polish citizens in other parts of Belgium.
Consular services
The consular section typically handles:
- Polish passports and emergency travel documents
- Registration of births, marriages and deaths
- Powers of attorney and notarial acts
- Certificates for pensions abroad
- Citizenship and civil register matters
Documents checklist
What Polish citizens usually need to bring for the most common requests, based on official Polish government information:
Polish passport for adults (application abroad)
- Book an appointment in the e-konsulat system and apply in person; collect the passport at the same consular post
- A biometric colour photo – without a suitable photo the consul will not accept the application
- Your valid passport or ID card confirming your identity and Polish citizenship
- For a reduced fee: proof of eligibility (e.g. student, pensioner or Large Family Card); applicants aged 70 or over pay no fee
- While you wait, or in a documented emergency, a temporary passport can be issued
Sources: Poland in the UK (gov.pl) – passport for an adult, Poland in the US (gov.pl) – temporary passport for an adult (checked October 2026). Requirements and fees can change and individual posts may ask for more – confirm the current list with the embassy before your visit.
Do I need an appointment?
Ask in advance whether your service needs a booked slot.
Closing days
The embassy is closed on Belgian public holidays and on Poland’s national day (11 November). Many offices work reduced hours in summer – call ahead in July and August.
