Who runs the Romanian Embassy?
According to the Belgian protocol list, Romania is represented by Ambassador Andreea Pastirnac (credentials presented 9 September 2019). This is the bilateral embassy to the Kingdom of Belgium; missions to the European Union or NATO in Brussels are separate offices. Four honorary consulates support Romanian citizens in other parts of Belgium.

The most frequent applications and the documents the Romanian authorities ask for:
Electronic passport for Romanians living abroad (CRDS)
- Book an appointment on econsulat.ro – you must apply in person (no post, no proxy)
- Romanian personal numeric code (CNP)
- Your Romanian identity card, if you have one – it is handed over when you register your residence abroad
- Your previous passport, if any
- Romanian birth certificate and, if applicable, marriage certificate or divorce decree (foreign certificates must first be transcribed into the Romanian civil register)
- Proof of your right of residence in Belgium (residence permit or registration certificate)
- The consular fee and passport booklet fee, paid at the mission

Closing days
Like most offices in Belgium, the embassy closes on public holidays – including Easter Monday, Ascension Day and Whit Monday as well as on the Romanian national day, 1 December. Check before visiting in the weeks around Christmas, Easter and in July/August.
Emergency assistance
Romanian nationals in urgent need of help can reach the embassy on +32 2 345 26 80. Consular staff can replace lost travel documents and inform family members; they do not provide legal representation or money. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101).
