• Good to know: A visit to the consular section requires an appointment, booked through the online system quito.kdmid.ru; the entrance to the consulate is on Calle Ramón Roca. The head of the consular section is Oleg Vishnevetskii.

Do Russian citizens need a visa for Ecuador?

No. Russia is not on the Ecuadorian foreign ministry’s list of countries whose nationals need a visa (30 August 2025), so its nationals do not need a visa for a tourist visit to Ecuador.

• Application form prepared online: zp.midpass.ru (biometric 10-year passport) or passportzu.kdmid.ru (5-year passport)
• Photo 35 × 45 mm attached to the application (one extra photo for the non-biometric passport)
• Your current Russian passport for travel abroad – or a valid internal passport if it has expired, is unusable or was never issued
• If the name has changed: marriage or name-change certificate; foreign documents need an apostille and a notarised Russian translation
• If the old passport was lost: a written statement about the loss
• Most consulates work by appointment only (electronic queue)

Public holidays in Ecuador under Article 65 of the Labour Code are New Year’s Day, Carnival Monday and Tuesday, Good Friday, Labour Day (1 May), the Battle of Pichincha (24 May), the First Cry of Independence (10 August), the Independence of Guayaquil (9 October), All Souls’ Day (2 November), the Independence of Cuenca (3 November) and Christmas Day. Holidays falling on a Tuesday move to the Monday before, those on a Wednesday or Thursday to the Friday of the same week (except 1 January and 25 December), and those on a Saturday or Sunday to the Friday before or the Monday after; each province and canton also has its own local holiday. The embassy may also close on public holidays of Russia.
