The High Commission of Sri Lanka in London represents Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom and serves Sri Lankan citizens living in the country. As both countries are members of the Commonwealth, the mission is called a High Commission and is headed by a High Commissioner rather than an ambassador.

About the Sri Lankan High Commission in London
The high commissioner is Senadheera Dumunnage Nimal Upali Senadheera, in post since 14 June 2025 according to the FCDO list. One honorary consulate supports Sri Lankan citizens elsewhere in the UK.

Documents checklist
Prepare these documents before your appointment. The lists are taken from official Sri Lankan sources:
Sri Lankan passport (new or renewal, abroad)
- Apply through the Sri Lankan mission in your country (or the nearest one) on Form K-35A, including the signed client undertaking
- Your current passport and a photocopy of the bio-data page
- Photo with the photo studio acknowledgement
- Original birth certificate and National Identity Card, each with a photocopy; marriage certificate for a married name
- Minors with parents abroad: consent letter and parents’ passport copies certified by the mission
- Urgent travel abroad: the mission can issue a one-way travel document

Do I need an appointment?
Walk-in capacity is limited, so check the procedure on the mission’s website first.
Closing days
Like most offices in the UK, the high commission closes on UK bank holidays and on Sri Lanka’s national day (4 February). Many missions also close on their own national and religious holidays – call ahead.
Emergency assistance
Sri Lankan nationals in urgent need of help can reach the high commission on +44 20 7262 1841. Consular staff can replace lost travel documents and inform family members; they do not provide legal representation or money. In the UK, the emergency number is 999 (or 112).
