Documents checklist

What Venezuelan citizens usually need to bring for the most common requests, based on official Venezuelan government information:

Extending a Venezuelan passport abroad (prórroga)

  • Start the request online on the SAIME portal (saime.gob.ve), choose “Obtención de prórroga de pasaporte en el extranjero” and the consulate where you will collect it
  • Pay the SAIME fee online (US$100 by international card, according to several embassies) – the consulate also charges a consular fee (minors under 18 are exempt)
  • Only biometric passports (with chip) in good condition with at least two free sheets can be extended
  • Bring the passport to the consulate, where the printed extension is stamped in
  • Minors: birth certificate; naturalised citizens: the Gaceta Oficial
