About the honorary consulate in Minsk

Minsk lies in the city of Minsk.

Zambia is not on the Belarusian Foreign Ministry’s list of visa-free destinations for Belarusian citizens, so a visa is normally required; the ministry asks travellers to check the entry rules with the embassy of the destination country before departure. Which Zambian office issues passports and visas?

The Zambian embassy responsible for Belarus is the place for passports and most consular matters; the honorary consul can advise but does not replace it.

What can an honorary consul do?

An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by Zambia and approved by the host country. Depending on the powers granted, the honorary consul can help Zambian citizens in an emergency (lost passport, accident, arrest), pass on applications and documents to the embassy, and certify signatures or life certificates. Passports and visas are not issued by an honorary consulate; they remain the responsibility of the embassy or a career consulate.
