Location of the Embassy
Before your visit
Visitors go to Chaussée de Waterloo 876, 1000 Brussels.
- Opening hours (according to the embassy): Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 15:00.
- Documents: take originals and photocopies, and a valid passport or identity card.
The embassy and its network in Belgium
The ambassador is Kanchana Patarachoke, who presented credentials to the King of the Belgians on 10 April 2024. Many embassies in Brussels are also accredited to Luxembourg, and some Thai diplomats in the city work with the European Union and NATO – these are separate missions with their own staff. One honorary consulate supports Thai citizens in other parts of Belgium.
Consular services
What you can usually arrange here:
- Thai passports and emergency travel documents
- Registration of births, marriages and deaths
- Help for citizens in difficulty – illness, arrest or loss of documents
Documents checklist
Prepare these documents before your appointment. The lists are taken from official Thai sources:
Thai e-passport (application abroad)
- Book an appointment and apply in person – biometric data are taken, so postal applications are not possible
- Your valid Thai national ID card (adults without one must first obtain it in Thailand)
- Your current passport – or a police report if it was lost
- The application form (and a photo where requested)
- Minors under 20: Thai birth certificate, both parents present or their documented consent
- Allow about 4–6 weeks
Sources: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand – e-passport application for Thai nationals living abroad, Royal Thai Embassy Brussels – Thai passport (checked October 2026). Requirements and fees can change and individual posts may ask for more – confirm the current list with the embassy before your visit.
Do I need an appointment?
Many consular services require an appointment – check the embassy website first.
Visa and entry information for Belgian citizens
Belgian citizens do not need a visa for short tourist stays in Thailand (up to 30 days); a valid passport is required. The Belgian Foreign Ministry keeps the entry rules for Belgians in its travel documents database; check it before booking.
Closing days
Like most offices in Belgium, the embassy closes on public holidays – including Easter Monday, Ascension Day and Whit Monday as well as on the Thai national day, 5 December. If your visit falls close to a holiday, confirm by phone or e-mail.
Emergency assistance
Thai nationals in urgent need of help can reach the embassy on +32 2 640 68 10. The embassy can help with lost passports, arrests and serious accidents, but it cannot cover costs or interfere with Belgian authorities. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101).
