Documents checklist

Prepare these documents before your appointment. The lists are taken from official Irish sources:

Renewing an Irish passport from abroad

  • Renew online with Passport Online on ireland.ie – available worldwide; applications must be made in the country where you live
  • Possible if your last passport was issued within the last 15 years (otherwise apply as a first-time applicant)
  • Your current passport, a digital photo meeting the requirements, an e-mail address and a credit or debit card
  • Most adult renewals need no supporting documents – the form tells you if anything else is required
  • Fee: €75 for a 10-year adult passport plus €15 postage outside Ireland
  • Emergency or temporary passports are not available online – contact the Embassy of Ireland

Sources: Department of Foreign Affairs, Ireland – Passport Online, Department of Foreign Affairs, Ireland – renew or replace your adult passport (checked October 2026). Requirements and fees can change and individual posts may ask for more – confirm the current list with the embassy before your visit.
