Location of the Embassy

Before your visit

Visitors go to Rue des Aduatiques 106, 1040 Etterbeek. The address is in Etterbeek, a municipality of the Brussels-Capital Region.

  • Opening hours (according to the embassy): Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 13:00.
  • Preparation: check the required documents on the embassy website and bring originals with copies.

Who runs the Chilean Embassy?

Jorge Carlos Tarud Daccarett heads the embassy as ambassador; the Belgian list gives 5 June 2026 as the date of the presentation of credentials. Brussels hosts the EU institutions and NATO, so several countries keep separate missions there; this page covers the bilateral embassy to Belgium. Two honorary consulates support Chilean citizens in other parts of Belgium.

Consular services

The consular section typically handles:

  • Chilean passports and emergency travel documents
  • Registration of births, marriages and deaths
  • Powers of attorney and notarial acts
  • Certificates for pensions abroad
  • Visas for travellers who need one for Chile

Documents checklist

Prepare these documents before your appointment. The lists are taken from official Chilean sources:

Chilean passport (application abroad)

  • Book an appointment in the consulate’s online agenda – passport and identity card can be done in the same appointment
  • Your Chilean identity card must be valid; if it has expired, renew it together with the passport
  • Your previous passport, which is kept and cancelled (if lost: Chilean ID card and police report)
  • Photos are usually taken at the consulate
  • Minors: both parents, or a recent apostilled notarial authorisation from the absent parent
  • Passports are made in Chile – allow several weeks

Sources: Chile en el Exterior (Chilean Foreign Ministry) – how to obtain a passport abroad, Consulate of Chile in Amsterdam – identity cards and passports (checked October 2026). Requirements and fees can change and individual posts may ask for more – confirm the current list with the embassy before your visit.

Do I need an appointment?

Ask in advance whether your service needs a booked slot.

Do Belgian citizens need a visa for Chile?

Belgian citizens do not need a visa for short tourist stays in Chile (up to 90 days); a valid passport is required. The Belgian Foreign Ministry keeps the entry rules for Belgians in its travel documents database; check it before booking.

Closing days

Expect the embassy to be closed on Belgian holidays such as 21 July (National Day), 15 August and 11 November and on Chile’s national day (18 September). If your visit falls close to a holiday, confirm by phone or e-mail.

Emergency assistance

Chilean nationals in urgent need of help can reach the embassy on +32 2 743 36 60. The embassy can help with lost passports, arrests and serious accidents, but it cannot cover costs or interfere with Belgian authorities. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101).
