Christmas Eve (24 December) is also a day off in 2026. When a holiday falls on a Tuesday or Thursday, the Hungarian government usually turns the Monday or Friday in between into a rest day (in 2026: 2 January and 21 August), so many offices close on those days as well. It is usually also closed on Chile’s national day (18 September).

In Hungary, call 112 for any emergency; the direct numbers are 104 for an ambulance, 105 for the fire service and 107 for the police.
