The embassy and its network in the Czech Republic

The ambassador is Jouni Veikko Juhani Laaksonen, who presented credentials to the President of the Czech Republic on 29 September 2026. Two honorary consulates – in Brno and Ostrava – support Finnish citizens.

Areas covered by the honorary consuls, as listed by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

  • Brno: the Jihomoravský Region, the Zlínský Region, the Vysočina Region and the Jihočeský Region
  • Ostrava: the Moravskoslezský Region, the Olomoucký Region, the Pardubický Region and the Královéhradecký Region

Documents checklist

The most frequent applications and the documents the Finnish authorities ask for:

Finnish passport or ID card (application abroad)

  • Apply in person at a Finnish embassy, consulate general or career-led consulate (only some honorary consulates can issue passports) – most missions require a booking
  • Make sure your data in the Finnish population register are up to date before applying
  • A passport photo no more than 6 months old (printed photo when applying at a mission)
  • Your old passport or ID card for identification
  • Men aged 23–30: military service documents
  • Collection: some online applications can only be completed and collected in Finland – check before choosing that route

Requirements and fees can change and individual posts may ask for more – confirm the current list with the embassy before your visit.
