Documents checklist

What Georgian citizens usually need to bring for the most common requests, based on official Georgian government information:

Georgian biometric passport (application at a consulate)

  • Book an appointment and apply in person – photo, fingerprints and signature are taken at the consulate
  • A copy of your current identity document (passport or ID card)
  • A passport photo (upload it when booking online or bring it on a USB stick)
  • If your name changed through marriage or divorce abroad: the apostilled supporting document
  • Prepared within about 45 days via a consulate; valid 10 years for adults
  • Alternative: citizens abroad can reuse their existing biometric data via the online service of the Public Service Development Agency

Sources: Consulate General of Georgia in New York – biometric passport for adults (mfa.gov.ge), Public Service Development Agency of Georgia – passport (checked October 2026). Requirements and fees can change and individual posts may ask for more – confirm the current list with the embassy before your visit.
