Location of the Embassy
The embassy and its staff
The current head of mission is Ambassador Alexander Maisuradze. According to the Austrian diplomatic list, the embassy has 10 diplomatic staff. Separate from the embassy, Georgia keeps a permanent mission to the OSCE; those missions do not handle consular matters for the public.
Which Georgian office is responsible for me?
The consular section in Vienna is responsible for Georgian citizens in all of Austria. One honorary consulate (Innsbruck) can help with information and some formalities, but passports are normally issued by the embassy.
Consular services
Services for Georgian citizens and visitors include:
- Georgian passports and emergency travel documents
- Registration of births, marriages and deaths
- Certification and legalisation of documents and signatures
- Certificates for pensions and social security abroad
- Visas for travellers who need one for Georgia
The exact list of documents depends on your case; the embassy confirms it on request.
Documents checklist
The most frequent applications and the documents the Georgian authorities ask for:
Georgian biometric passport (application at a consulate)
- Book an appointment and apply in person – photo, fingerprints and signature are taken at the consulate
- A copy of your current identity document (passport or ID card)
- A passport photo (upload it when booking online or bring it on a USB stick)
- If your name changed through marriage or divorce abroad: the apostilled supporting document
- Prepared within about 45 days via a consulate; valid 10 years for adults
- Alternative: citizens abroad can reuse their existing biometric data via the online service of the Public Service Development Agency
