Public and bank holidays in Belize under the Holidays Act (Chapter 289) are New Year’s Day, George Price Day (15 January), National Heroes and Benefactors Day (9 March), Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter Monday, Labour Day (1 May), Emancipation Day (1 August), St George’s Caye Day (10 September), Independence Day (21 September), Indigenous Peoples’ Resistance Day (12 October), Garifuna Settlement Day (19 November), Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The government announces each year the days on which they are observed, and some holidays are moved to a Monday – in 2026 all of them fall on their calendar dates. The embassy may also close on public holidays of Guatemala.
