- Visas for travellers who need one for Laos
- Help for citizens in difficulty – illness, arrest or loss of documents

Short matters can often be handled during public hours; passport applications may need an appointment.
Entry rules for Swiss citizens travelling to Laos
According to the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), information on entry requirements for Swiss citizens – accepted documents and visas – is provided by the embassy of Laos. The FDFA has no general travel warning for Laos. See the FDFA travel advice.
Closing days
The embassy is closed on Swiss public holidays and on the Lao national holiday (2 December). If your visit falls close to a holiday, confirm by phone.
Emergency assistance
In an emergency, Lao citizens should call the embassy on +41 22 798 24 41. Typical cases are a stolen passport before a trip home, a hospital stay or an arrest; legal fees and travel costs remain the citizen’s responsibility. For Swiss travellers in Laos, the contacts are the Swiss Embassy in Bangkok, which also covers Laos and the FDFA Helpline (+41 58 465 33 33, around the clock).
