About the honorary consulate in Copenhagen
According to the list, the post has been held since 2024.
The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not publish visa rules for individual countries. Its travel advice points out that the authorities of the destination decide on entry rules, and asks Danish citizens to check with that country’s nearest embassy or consulate before departure – for Malaysia, that means this mission. See the ministry’s travel advice for Malaysia (in Danish).
Which Malaysian office issues passports and visas?
The Malaysian Embassy in Stockholm (accredited to Denmark) is the place for passports and most consular matters; the honorary consul can advise but does not replace it.
Note: Malaysia has no resident embassy in Copenhagen; its embassy in Stockholm is accredited to Denmark.
Contact details of the Malaysian Embassy in Stockholm, as listed on its page in this directory:
- Address: Karlavägen 37, 114 31 Stockholm, Sweden

What can an honorary consul do?
An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by Malaysia and approved by the host country. Depending on the powers granted, the honorary consul can help Malaysian citizens in an emergency (lost passport, accident, arrest), pass on applications and documents to the embassy, and certify signatures or life certificates. Passports and visas are not issued by an honorary consulate; they remain the responsibility of the embassy or a career consulate.
