Travelling from Sweden to Malaysia

Swedish travellers should confirm visa requirements for Malaysia with the Malaysian embassy before booking; the Swedish Foreign Ministry publishes travel advice for Malaysia but no visa rules for other countries.

Closing days

Like most offices in Sweden, the embassy closes on public holidays – including Epiphany (6 January), Ascension Day and All Saints’ Day. It is usually also closed on Malaysia’s national day (31 August). If your visit falls close to a holiday, confirm by phone or e-mail.

Emergency assistance

In an emergency, Malaysian citizens should call the embassy on +46 8 440 84 00. The embassy can help with lost passports, arrests and serious accidents, but it cannot cover costs or interfere with Swedish authorities. In Sweden, the emergency number is 112. Swedish citizens who need help in Malaysia should contact the Swedish embassy responsible for the country or the Swedish Foreign Ministry’s 24-hour consular duty service on +46 8 405 50 05; Sweden Abroad lists the local contacts.
