About the honorary consulate in Zagreb

Croatian citizens do not need a visa for short stays in Mexico, according to the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs; a valid passport is required. Source: Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs – visa overview for Croatian citizens (in Croatian).

Which Mexican office issues passports and visas?

Applications for Mexican passports, visas and official certificates are not processed here but by the Mexican Embassy in Budapest (accredited to Croatia).

Note: Mexico has no resident embassy in Zagreb; its embassy in Budapest is accredited to Croatia.

What can an honorary consul do?

An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by Mexico and approved by the host country. Depending on the powers granted, the honorary consul can help Mexican citizens in an emergency (lost passport, accident, arrest), pass on applications and documents to the embassy, and certify signatures or life certificates. Passports and visas are not issued by an honorary consulate; they remain the responsibility of the embassy or a career consulate.
