About the Embassy of Moldova in the United States
The ambassador is Vladislav Kulminski, who presented the credentials on 5 September 2025, according to the State Department’s Order of Precedence. The Congressional Directory lists no consular offices of Moldova elsewhere in the United States. In Moldova, the United States is represented by the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau (md.usembassy.gov), according to the Congressional Directory.
Do Moldovan citizens need a visa for the United States?
Moldova is not one of the 42 countries in the US Visa Waiver Program (Department of Homeland Security), so Moldovan citizens normally need a US visa before travelling to the United States, also for short visits; visas are issued by US embassies and consulates abroad, not by the Moldovan embassy in the United States.
Documents checklist
What Moldovan citizens usually need to bring for the most common requests, based on official Moldovan government information:
Moldovan passport (application abroad)
- Embassies and consulates accept the application and send it to the Public Services Agency, which produces the passport
- Book an appointment online and apply in person; the photo is usually taken at the mission
- Your Moldovan ID card (not required for holders of a passport with an “authorised emigration” stamp)
- All your current and expired passports, and civil status records (birth, marriage or divorce certificates)
- Proof of payment of the consular fee (payment methods vary by mission)
- Lost, damaged or expired passport and urgent return: an emergency travel document valid only for the return to Moldova
