Carlos Gil de Montes Molinari heads the embassy as ambassador; the Portuguese protocol list gives 17 January 2022 as the date of the presentation of credentials. One honorary consulate – in Porto – supports Peruvian citizens outside the capital.

Documents checklist

The most frequent applications and the documents the Peruvian authorities ask for:

Peruvian electronic passport (adults, abroad)

  • Applications abroad are handled by the Peruvian consulates (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) – check your consulate’s passport page and book an appointment where required
  • Your valid DNI in good condition
  • Receipt for the consular fee – the equivalent of US$70 (charged in “soles consulares” in local currency)
  • If a previous passport was lost or stolen: a sworn declaration
  • Old mechanical passports can no longer be renewed – a new electronic passport is issued (valid 10 years for adults)
  • In an emergency (lost or stolen passport) the consulate can issue an emergency passport for the return to Peru or to your country of residence

Requirements and fees can change and individual posts may ask for more – confirm the current list with the embassy before your visit.
