Portuguese electronic passport (application abroad)

• Apply in person at the consular post for your area of residence
• Valid Cartão de Cidadão or Bilhete de Identidade – no other document is accepted
• Your previous passport, if you are replacing it
• For minors: the child, the parent or guardian with ID, and proof of parental responsibility (less than 6 months old) where applicable
• Fee (2026): €105 normal, €110 express, €120 urgent – paid in cash or by Multibanco

Closing days

National public holidays in Brazil are New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Tiradentes Day (21 April), Labour Day (1 May), Independence Day (7 September), Our Lady of Aparecida (12 October), All Souls’ Day (2 November), the Proclamation of the Republic (15 November), Black Consciousness Day (20 November) and Christmas Day; they are not moved when they fall on a weekend. Carnival Monday and Tuesday, Ash Wednesday morning and Corpus Christi are optional days (ponto facultativo) rather than public holidays, and each state and municipality also has its own holidays. The office may also close on public holidays of Portugal.
