About the Portuguese Embassy in Berlin

Visa information
Travelling from Germany to Portugal
German citizens do not need a visa and can travel with an identity card. Portugal is in the EU and the Schengen area.
- Portugal accepts documents expired for less than a year, but flights require a valid document.
- For flights home via the United Kingdom, even as a transit or replacement flight, you need a passport. Taking your passport is recommended.
- The German Embassy in Lisbon can rarely issue a temporary passport at short notice.

The embassy is closed on German public holidays in Berlin and on Portuguese holidays, including Freedom Day on 25 April, Portugal Day on 10 June and Republic Day on 5 October.
