What does the honorary consul in Lamia do?

Russia is represented in Lamia by an honorary consul. According to the Greek Foreign Ministry’s list of consular posts (September 2026), the post is held by Mme. Argiro Leventi. Honorary consuls usually work part-time, so a visit needs to be arranged. To arrange a visit, call +30 2235 032 251 and e-mail info@levendi.gr.

Despite the name, the office is in Agios Konstantinos, near Lamia. The office is located in Central Greece. The embassy in Athens is roughly 150 km away.

The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not publish visa rules for individual countries. It asks Greek citizens travelling outside the EU and the European Economic Area to check with the consular authorities of the country they are visiting before departure – for Russia, that means this mission. See the ministry’s page on visas for Greek citizens (in Greek).

Which Russian office issues passports and visas?

An honorary consul cannot issue passports or visas; these are handled by the Russian Embassy in Athens or the consulate general in Thessaloniki.

Holidays and closures

Expect the honorary consulate to be closed on Greek public holidays such as Epiphany (6 January), Independence Day (25 March) and Ochi Day (28 October). The Russian national day, 12 June, normally means a closure too. If your visit falls close to a holiday, confirm by phone or e-mail.
