The embassy and its network in Belgium

Mame Baba Cisse heads the embassy as ambassador; the Belgian list gives 9 April 2025 as the date of the presentation of credentials. Many embassies in Brussels are also accredited to Luxembourg, and some Senegalese diplomats in the city work with the European Union and NATO – these are separate missions with their own staff. Two honorary consulates support Senegalese citizens in other parts of Belgium.

Consular services

Requests the consular staff deal with:

  • Senegalese passports and emergency travel documents
  • Registration of births, marriages and deaths
  • Certification and legalisation of documents
  • Powers of attorney and notarial acts
  • Certificates for pensions abroad

Do I need an appointment?

Many consular services require an appointment – check the embassy website first.

Visa and entry information for Belgian citizens

Belgian citizens do not need a visa for short tourist stays in Senegal (up to 90 days); a valid passport is required. The Belgian Foreign Ministry keeps the entry rules for Belgians in its travel documents database; check it before booking.

Closing days

The embassy is closed on Belgian public holidays as well as on the Senegalese national day, 4 April. If your visit falls close to a holiday, confirm by phone or e-mail.
