Who runs the Slovak Embassy?

According to the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Slovakia is represented by Ambassador Martin Muránsky (credentials presented 13 May 2025). Two honorary consulates – in Brno and Ostrava – support Slovak citizens.

Areas covered by the honorary consuls, as listed by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

  • Brno: the regions Jihomoravský, Olomoucký and Zlínský
  • Ostrava: the Moravskoslezský Region

Documents checklist

The most frequent applications and the documents the Slovak authorities ask for:

Slovak passport (application abroad)

  • Book an appointment (many embassies use an electronic booking service) and apply in person (applicants 18+)
  • A valid Slovak ID card or Slovak passport as proof of citizenship – a driving licence is not accepted
  • Without either: first obtain a Slovak citizenship certificate
  • Name changes abroad: the apostilled certificate with Slovak translation
  • Passports are produced in Slovakia; lost passport: emergency travel document for the return to Slovakia
