About the Slovak Embassy in Brussels
The ambassador is Tomas Kozak, who presented credentials to the King of the Belgians on 6 March 2025. Brussels hosts the EU institutions and NATO, so several countries keep separate missions there; this page covers the bilateral embassy to Belgium. Prepare these documents before your appointment. The lists are taken from official Slovak sources:
Slovak passport (application abroad)
- Book an appointment (many embassies use an electronic booking service) and apply in person (applicants 18+)
- A valid Slovak ID card or Slovak passport as proof of citizenship – a driving licence is not accepted
- Without either: first obtain a Slovak citizenship certificate
- Name changes abroad: the apostilled certificate with Slovak translation
- Passports are produced in Slovakia; lost passport: emergency travel document for the return to Slovakia

Do I need an appointment?
Many consular services require an appointment – check the embassy website first.
Closing days
Expect the embassy to be closed on Belgian holidays such as 21 July (National Day), 15 August and 11 November and on Slovakia’s national day (1 September). Many offices work reduced hours in summer – call ahead in July and August.
Emergency assistance
For emergencies, the embassy’s number is +32 2 743 67 21. Consular staff can replace lost travel documents and inform family members; they do not provide legal representation or money. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101).
