The embassy and its network in France

According to the embassy, it is headed by Metka Ipavic, Ambassador. In the other direction, about 880 French citizens are registered with the French consular network in Slovenia. Two honorary consulates support Slovenian citizens in other parts of France.

Prepare these documents before your appointment. The lists are taken from official Slovenian sources:

Slovenian passport (application abroad)

  • Adults apply in person at the embassy or consulate general (some posts ask you to e-mail first)
  • Your old passport – or a valid public document with photo and proof of Slovenian citizenship
  • A biometric photo of the prescribed size
  • Your permanent or temporary address must be up to date in the Slovenian records; marriages abroad must be registered first
  • Lost or stolen passport: police certificate – the mission can issue a passport for return valid up to 30 days

Walk-in capacity is limited, so check the procedure on the embassy website first.

Visa and entry information for French citizens

As EU citizens, French nationals can travel to Slovenia without a visa; a valid passport or national identity card is enough. Slovenia is rated “normal vigilance” by the French Foreign Ministry. Details: French travel advice (Conseils aux voyageurs).

Closing days

Expect the embassy to be closed on French public holidays and on the Slovenian national holiday (25 June). Check the website before visiting around holidays.
