Renewing a British passport from abroad
- British embassies and consulates do not issue passports – apply online with HM Passport Office on GOV.UK
- Your old passport, which you send with the application
- A digital photo
- A credit or debit card for the fee
- Any valid passports you hold from another country (the passport or a colour copy of every page)
Emergency travel document
- For British nationals outside the UK who need to travel within 6 weeks
- Your passport is lost, stolen, damaged, full or recently expired, or you cannot renew it in time
- Usually valid for a single or return journey through up to 5 countries
- Apply online on GOV.UK

Do Czech citizens need a visa for the United Kingdom?
Czech citizens do not need a visa for short stays in the United Kingdom, but must obtain an electronic travel authorisation online before departure. The Czech Foreign Ministry publishes the current entry rules in its travel advice; check it before booking.

Closing days
Like most offices in the Czech Republic, the embassy closes on public holidays – including Liberation Day (8 May), the holidays of 5 and 6 July and Freedom and Democracy Day (17 November).
Emergency assistance
In the Czech Republic, the emergency number is 112 (police 158, ambulance 155). Czech citizens who need help in the United Kingdom can contact the Czech Embassy in London; the Czech Foreign Ministry’s travel information lists the responsible mission, and travellers can register their trip in the ministry’s DROZD system.
