Consular services

Typical consular services include:

  • Kazakh passports and emergency travel documents
  • Registration of births, marriages and deaths
  • Certification and legalisation of documents
  • Powers of attorney and notarial acts
  • Citizenship and civil register matters

Documents checklist

What Kazakh citizens usually need to bring for the most common requests, based on official Kazakh government information:

Passport of Kazakhstan while staying abroad

  • Completed application, submitted to the embassy or consulate
  • Your current Kazakh passport if you are exchanging it (for a first passport: the old Soviet passport as proof of citizenship)
  • Proof of your situation abroad (permanent residence, study, work, marriage or long-term treatment) – original and copy
  • Certificate of non-citizenship from the host country, if it issues one
  • Proof of payment of the consular fee
  • Processing: up to 90 calendar days from receipt of the documents

Do I need an appointment?

Walk-in capacity is limited, so check the procedure on the website first.

Do Dutch citizens need a visa for Kazakhstan?

Dutch citizens do not need a visa for short tourist stays in Kazakhstan (up to 30 days); a valid passport is required. The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes the current entry rules in its travel advice (in Dutch); check it before booking.

Closing days

The embassy is normally closed on Dutch public holidays and on Kazakhstan’s national day (16 December). Check before visiting in the weeks around Christmas and Easter.

Emergency assistance

In an emergency, Kazakh citizens should call the embassy on +31 70 363 47 57. The embassy can help with lost passports, arrests and serious accidents, but it cannot cover costs or interfere with Dutch authorities.
