About the Kazakh Embassy in Berlin
The embassy represents Kazakhstan, the world’s largest landlocked country, in Germany. Hundreds of thousands of ethnic Germans from Kazakhstan resettled in Germany after 1990, and Kazakhstan is an important supplier of oil and raw materials.
Kazakhstan has an embassy branch office in Bonn, consulates general in Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg and Munich, and six honorary consuls.

All Kazakh offices are closed on Wednesdays. The honorary consul in Dortmund offers no passport or visa services.

Before you travel to Kazakhstan
- A passport valid for at least six months; extended or updated documents are not accepted, and damaged passports can be refused
- Optional but recommended: an Electronic Travel Authorization via the QazETA app
- Your hotel or host must notify the migration police within three working days of arrival
Visa information
Travelling from Germany to Kazakhstan
German citizens do not need a visa for stays of up to 30 days. Longer stays require a visa from a Kazakh mission, applied for in good time.
- An ETA via the QazETA app is recommended but not yet mandatory during the pilot phase.
- Check your visa for errors as soon as you receive it.
- Every foreigner’s arrival must be reported to the migration police, even visa-free; this is done by the hotel or host.
Travelling from Kazakhstan to Germany
Kazakh citizens need a Schengen visa from the German Embassy in Astana or the Consulate General in Almaty.

Closing days
The embassy is closed every Wednesday, on German public holidays in Berlin and on Kazakh holidays, including Nauryz on 21–23 March, Republic Day on 25 October and Independence Day on 16 December.
