About the Embassy of Afghanistan in Berlin

The embassy is listed by the German Federal Foreign Office as the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Since the Taliban took power in August 2021, Germany has not recognised a new Afghan government, and the political situation of Afghan missions abroad has changed several times. For the roughly 400,000 Afghans living in Germany, the consular work of the embassy and the two Consulates General remains essential.

Afghanistan has three career missions in Germany: the embassy in Berlin and Consulates General in Bonn and Munich (in Grünwald).
