About the Embassy of Brunei in Berlin
The embassy represents the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam in Germany. According to the German Federal Foreign Office, it is Brunei’s only mission in Germany; there are no consulates or honorary consuls.
Brunei is a small, oil-rich monarchy on the island of Borneo with a population of under half a million.

Visa information
Travelling from Germany to Brunei
German citizens do not need a visa for tourist or business stays of up to 90 days.
- Study and work require a visa.
- Minors may enter with only one parent.
- Brunei has strict import rules. Non-Muslims may bring in only small amounts of alcohol for personal use, which must be declared. Large sums of money must also be declared on the electronic arrival card.
- Brunei applies Sharia law in parts of its legal system. Respect local customs and dress codes, especially during Ramadan.

Citizens of Brunei do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days within 180 days in the Schengen area.

Closing days
The embassy is closed on German public holidays in Berlin and on Bruneian holidays, including National Day on 23 February, the Sultan’s Birthday on 15 July and the Islamic holidays.
