Documents checklist

What Greek citizens usually need to bring for the most common requests, based on official Greek government information:

Greek passport (application abroad)

  • Book an appointment with the competent Greek consular authority and submit the documents in person – the passport is issued by the Hellenic Police
  • The application form, completed at the consulate
  • Your previous passport, if you have one
  • Greek police ID card – or a birth certificate from your Greek municipality (can be downloaded via gov.gr)
  • Recent photo meeting the technical specifications (ask the consulate which format is accepted now)
  • Receipt for the consular fee; men of military age: proof that military obligations are settled
