The ministry lists the consulate under Reykjavík, but the address it gives is in Garðabær.
Garðabær lies about 7 km in a straight line from the centre of Reykjavík and about 35 km from Keflavík International Airport.
As citizens of an EU country, Luxembourg nationals need no visa for Iceland; a valid passport or national identity card is enough to enter.

Passports and other formal consular services for Luxembourg citizens are handled by the Luxembourg Embassy in London (accredited to Iceland).
Luxembourg has no embassy in Iceland. According to the diplomatic list of the Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs (April 2026), the mission accredited to Iceland is the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in London. It is headed by Georges Friden (ambassador, credentials presented on 21 February 2023).

What can an honorary consul do?
An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by Luxembourg and approved by the host country. Depending on the powers granted, the honorary consul can help Luxembourg citizens in an emergency (lost passport, accident, arrest), pass on applications and documents to the embassy, and certify signatures or life certificates. Passports and visas are not issued by an honorary consulate; they remain the responsibility of the embassy or a career consulate.

Closing days
Iceland’s public holidays are New Year’s Day, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Monday, the First Day of Summer (the first Thursday after 18 April), Labour Day (1 May), Ascension Day, Whit Sunday and Monday, National Day (17 June), Commerce Day (the first Monday in August), Christmas Day and Boxing Day; Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are holidays from 1 pm. Holidays that fall on a weekend are not moved to a weekday. In 2027, Easter falls on 28 March and the First Day of Summer on 22 April. The honorary consulate may also close on Luxembourg’s national day (23 June).
