About the honorary consulate in Stockholm
According to the list, the exequatur dates from 2004.
Swedish travellers should confirm visa requirements for Nepal with the Nepalese embassy before booking; the Swedish Foreign Ministry publishes travel advice for Nepal but no visa rules for other countries.
Which Nepalese office issues passports and visas?
Applications for Nepalese passports, visas and official certificates are not processed here but by the Nepalese Embassy in Copenhagen (accredited to Sweden).
Note: Nepal has no resident embassy in Stockholm; its embassy in Copenhagen is accredited to Sweden.
What can an honorary consul do?
An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by Nepal and approved by the host country. Depending on the powers granted, the honorary consul can help Nepalese citizens in an emergency (lost passport, accident, arrest), pass on applications and documents to the embassy, and certify signatures or life certificates. Passports and visas are not issued by an honorary consulate; they remain the responsibility of the embassy or a career consulate.
