What does the honorary consul in Athens do?
Singapore is represented in Athens by an honorary consul. The honorary consul listed by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs is Theodore. Its jurisdiction is the whole of Greece. Do not turn up unannounced – there are no regular office hours. To arrange a visit, call +30 210 684 5072 and e-mail singapore@consulate-general.gr.
Athens lies in Attica.
The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not publish visa rules for individual countries. It asks Greek citizens travelling outside the EU and the European Economic Area to check with the consular authorities of the country they are visiting before departure – for Singapore, that means this mission. See the ministry’s page on visas for Greek citizens (in Greek).
Which Singaporean office issues passports and visas?
The Singaporean Embassy in Singapour (accredited to Greece) is the place for passports and most consular matters; the honorary consul can advise but does not replace it.
Note: Singapore has no resident embassy in Athens; its embassy in Singapour is accredited to Greece.
When is the office closed?
Like most offices in Greece, the honorary consulate closes on public holidays – including Clean Monday, Orthodox Easter (Good Friday to Easter Monday), the Assumption (15 August) and Christmas. On the Singaporean national day (9 August) the office is usually closed or holds a reception. Check before visiting in the weeks around Christmas and Easter.
