The embassy is located at Avenue Brugmann 80, 1190 Forest. The address is in Forest, a municipality of the Brussels-Capital Region.

The embassy and its network in Belgium

The ambassador is Juan Antonio Fernandez Palacios, who presented credentials to the King of the Belgians on 17 December 2024. Many embassies in Brussels are also accredited to Luxembourg, and some Cuban diplomats in the city work with the European Union and NATO – these are separate missions with their own staff.

The most frequent applications and the documents the Cuban authorities ask for:

Renewing a Cuban passport abroad

  • Renewal is possible for passports issued on or after 1 January 2010
  • The consular application form (planilla)
  • A photocopy of the passport’s main page
  • Two colour passport photos, high resolution, light background, no dark glasses
  • Cubans born abroad who acquired citizenship: the citizenship resolution and Cuban birth certificate
  • Some consulates accept postal applications, others only in person (biometric data) – check with your consulate

Visa and entry information for Belgian citizens

Belgian citizens need a visa for Cuba, to be obtained before travelling. The Belgian Foreign Ministry keeps the entry rules for Belgians in its travel documents database; check it before booking.

Closing days

Like most offices in Belgium, the embassy closes on public holidays – including Easter Monday, Ascension Day and Whit Monday as well as on the Cuban national day, 1 January. If your visit falls close to a holiday, confirm by phone or e-mail.

Emergency assistance

For emergencies, the embassy’s number is +32 2 343 00 20. Consular staff can replace lost travel documents and inform family members; they do not provide legal representation or money. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101).
