Who runs the Latvian Embassy?

The ambassador is Aiga Liepina, who presented credentials to the King of the Belgians on 11 September 2023. This is the bilateral embassy to the Kingdom of Belgium; missions to the European Union or NATO in Brussels are separate offices. Two honorary consulates support Latvian citizens in other parts of Belgium.

Walk-in capacity is limited, so check the procedure on the embassy website first.

Closing days

Like most offices in Belgium, the embassy closes on public holidays – including Easter Monday, Ascension Day and Whit Monday and on Latvia’s national day (18 November). Many offices work reduced hours in summer – call ahead in July and August.

Emergency assistance

For emergencies, the embassy’s number is +32 2 238 32 36. Consular staff can replace lost travel documents and inform family members; they do not provide legal representation or money. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101).
