About the Maldivian Embassy in Berlin
The embassy represents the Maldives, an island nation of around 1,200 coral islands in the Indian Ocean, in Germany. Germany is one of the most important European markets for Maldivian tourism, and climate protection is a central topic, as most islands lie barely a metre above sea level.

Visa information
Travelling from Germany to the Maldives
German citizens receive a free 30-day tourist visa on arrival. An online traveller declaration must be submitted within 96 hours before arrival.
- Passports normally have to be valid for six months; a temporary rule currently requires only one month. Check the Maldivian immigration website before travel.
- Extended or updated children’s passports are not accepted.
- Extending to 90 days is only possible on site with a recommendation from your resort. Booking more than 30 days in advance is at your own risk.
- Overstaying can lead to high fines and an entry ban.

Maldivian citizens need a Schengen visa. Ask the German Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where to apply.
