About the Nigerien Embassy in Berlin
The embassy represents Niger, a large Sahel country, in Germany. Since the military takeover in July 2023, cooperation has been sharply reduced, and the security situation in the country is very serious.
Niger has honorary consuls in Hamburg and Stuttgart. Not to be confused with Nigeria, its southern neighbour.

Visa information
Travelling from Germany to Niger
Because of the full travel warning, Germany advises its citizens not to go to Niger at all. Anyone who still has to travel needs a visa issued before departure; the embassy in Zehlendorf explains the current requirements.
- Since the 2023 takeover, borders and flight connections have been closed or restricted at short notice several times.
- Kidnapping and terrorism risks exist in large parts of the country, including near Niamey.

Closing days
The embassy is closed on German public holidays in Berlin and on Nigerien holidays, including Independence Day on 3 August, Republic Day on 18 December and the Islamic festivals.

Is this the embassy of Nigeria?
No. Niger and Nigeria are neighbouring but different countries. Nigeria’s embassy is at Neue Jakobstraße 4 in Berlin-Mitte.
Is there a Nigerien consulate in western Germany?
Yes, the honorary consul in Hamburg also covers North Rhine-Westphalia.
