The embassy and its network in Italy
Elif Çomoglu Ülgen heads the embassy as ambassador; the Italian list gives 7 April 2025 as the date of accreditation. 25 diplomats are accredited to the embassy, according to the Italian list. Türkiye also has career consular offices in Milan. Seven honorary consulates support Turkish citizens in other parts of Italy.

Documents checklist
The most frequent applications and the documents the Turkish authorities ask for:
New ordinary passport (adults)
- Book an appointment first – applications must be made in person
- Turkish ID card (T.C. Kimlik Kartı) or temporary ID document
- All previous passports that have not been cancelled, valid or expired
- One biometric photo, 50 × 60 mm, white background, taken within the last 6 months
- The application form is prepared at the consulate
- Passports cannot be extended – a new passport is issued each time
Temporary passport (emergency travel)
- Turkish ID card – original and photocopy
- Any previous passports (valid or expired) that have not been cancelled
- If both passport and ID are lost: a photo document such as a family register or driving licence
- One biometric photo, 50 × 60 mm, white background
- Plane or bus ticket back to Türkiye or to your country of residence
- No passport fee is charged for a temporary passport

Visa and entry information for Italian citizens
Italian citizens do not need a visa for short tourist stays in Türkiye (up to 90 days). Details: Italian travel advice (Viaggiare Sicuri).
Closing days
The embassy is closed on Italian public holidays; Turkish celebrations on 29 October (national day) usually mean a closure too. Offices in the city also close on 29 June for the feast of Saints Peter and Paul. If your visit falls close to a holiday, confirm by phone or e-mail.

In an emergency, Turkish citizens should call the embassy on +39 06 445941064469933. Embassies can issue emergency travel documents, contact relatives and provide lists of lawyers or doctors; they cannot pay bills or act as a lawyer. The Italian emergency number is 112.
