Naaffgasse 23 23 in Vienna’s 18th district (Währing) is where the embassy is based.

  • Checklist: identity document, completed forms, originals plus one copy of each supporting document.
  • Emergencies outside office hours: +43 1 479 71 72 52, +43 1 479 71 72 11.

The embassy and its staff

Ambassador Vasyl Khymynets has headed the embassy since October 2021. According to the Austrian diplomatic list, the embassy has 14 diplomatic staff. The embassy also has a defence attaché. Do not confuse the embassy with Ukraine’s permanent mission to the United Nations and other international organisations in Vienna: that mission deals with multilateral diplomacy only.

Embassy or honorary consulate?

The consular section in Vienna is responsible for Ukrainian citizens in all of Austria. Seven honorary consulates (Eisenstadt, Graz, Innsbruck, Klagenfurt, Linz, Salzburg and St. Pölten) can help with information and some formalities, but passports are normally issued by the embassy.

Consular services

Typical consular services include:

  • Citizenship and residence register matters

Fees and current requirements are published on the embassy website (https://austria.mfa.gov.ua).

Documents checklist

Prepare these documents before your appointment. The lists are taken from official Ukrainian sources:

  • Proof of residence or stay abroad (residence permit or visa), original and copy – optional at some missions
  • Men aged 18–60: an up-to-date electronic military registration document from the Reserv+ app, printed
  • Consular fee as published by the mission (e.g. US$130 for citizens over 16 at the Embassy in Peru)
