What Egyptian citizens usually need to bring for the most common requests, based on official Egyptian government information:

Issuing or renewing an Egyptian passport abroad

  • Personal appearance is mandatory for applicants over 15
  • Valid Egyptian national ID card and a copy (without it the passport is issued for 3 years only)
  • Original and copy of your current passport
  • Four recent photos, 4 × 6 cm, white background
  • Men aged 29 or over: military status document (e.g. exemption or service certificate, or a letter from the Egyptian military attaché)
  • Divorced or widowed women: the authenticated divorce or death record

Walk-in capacity is limited, so check the procedure on the embassy website first.

Travelling from Italy to Egypt

Italian citizens need a visa for Egypt, which can be obtained on arrival (up to 30 days). Details: Italian travel advice (Viaggiare Sicuri).

Closing days

The embassy is closed on Italian public holidays as well as on the Egyptian national day, 23 July. Offices in the city also close on 29 June for the feast of Saints Peter and Paul. Many offices work reduced hours in August – call ahead in summer.

Emergency assistance

Egyptian nationals in urgent need of help can reach the embassy on +39 06 84401982. Consular staff can replace lost travel documents and inform family members; they do not provide legal representation or money. The Italian emergency number is 112.
