About the Japanese Embassy in Brussels
Takeshi Osuga heads the embassy as ambassador; the Belgian list gives 5 December 2025 as the date of the presentation of credentials. This is the bilateral embassy to the Kingdom of Belgium; missions to the European Union or NATO in Brussels are separate offices. One honorary consulate supports Japanese citizens in other parts of Belgium.

Visa and entry information for Belgian citizens
Belgian citizens do not need a visa for short tourist stays in Japan (up to 90 days); a valid passport is required. The Belgian Foreign Ministry keeps the entry rules for Belgians in its travel documents database; check it before booking.
Closing days
Like most offices in Belgium, the embassy closes on public holidays – including Easter Monday, Ascension Day and Whit Monday and on Japan’s national day (23 February). If your visit falls close to a holiday, confirm by phone or e-mail.
Emergency assistance
In an emergency, Japanese citizens should call the embassy on +32 2 513 23 40. Consular staff can replace lost travel documents and inform family members; they do not provide legal representation or money. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101).
