About the honorary consulate in Copenhagen

According to the list, the post has been held since 2024. The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists office hours (Monday to Wednesday 09:00–14:00); as honorary consuls work part-time, confirm before you go.

The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not publish visa rules for individual countries. Its travel advice points out that the authorities of the destination decide on entry rules, and asks Danish citizens to check with that country’s nearest embassy or consulate before departure – for New Zealand, that means this mission. See the ministry’s travel advice for New Zealand (in Danish).

Which New Zealand office issues passports and visas?

Binding consular acts – passports, visas, certificates – are the responsibility of the New Zealand Embassy in Stockholm (accredited to Denmark).

Note: New Zealand has no resident embassy in Copenhagen; its embassy in Stockholm is accredited to Denmark.

What can an honorary consul do?

An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by New Zealand and approved by the host country. Depending on the powers granted, the honorary consul can help New Zealand citizens in an emergency (lost passport, accident, arrest), pass on applications and documents to the embassy, and certify signatures or life certificates. Passports and visas are not issued by an honorary consulate; they remain the responsibility of the embassy or a career consulate.
