Before you fly to Kuwait
- A regular passport valid for at least six months; temporary passports and children’s passports are not accepted
- No Israeli visas or stamps in the passport
- A reference address in Kuwait, such as a hotel booking
- Expect fingerprints and an iris scan on arrival
Visa information
Travelling from Germany to Kuwait
German citizens need a visa. It can be applied for in advance at a Kuwaiti mission, online, or on arrival at Kuwait International Airport or a land border.
- Travellers with Israeli visas or stamps are refused and sent back.
- Biometric checks at entry can take up to half a day; you may not leave the transit area meanwhile.
- People with dual citizenship must leave Kuwait on the same passport they used to enter.
- Avoid the border areas with Iraq, which are military zones.
Travelling from Kuwait to Germany
Kuwaiti citizens need a Schengen visa from the German Embassy in Kuwait City.

Closing days
The embassy is closed on German public holidays in Berlin and on Kuwaiti holidays, including National Day on 25 February, Liberation Day on 26 February and the Islamic festivals of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
