Thailand normally requires a visa from Croatian citizens, but according to the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs stays of up to 30 days are visa-free – for tourist or business visits, extendable by a further 30 days; since 1 May 2025 all travellers must also complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) within three days before arrival. What can an honorary consul do?
An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by Thailand and approved by the host country. Depending on the powers granted, the honorary consul can help Thai citizens in an emergency (lost passport, accident, arrest), pass on applications and documents to the embassy, and certify signatures or life certificates. Passports and visas are not issued by an honorary consulate; they remain the responsibility of the embassy or a career consulate.

Holidays and closures
Like most offices in Croatia, the honorary consulate closes on public holidays – including Easter Monday, the Assumption (15 August), All Saints’ Day, Remembrance Day (18 November), Christmas and St Stephen’s Day. It is usually also closed on Thailand’s national day (5 December).
