About the Haitian Embassy in Berlin
The embassy represents Haiti in Germany. Haiti shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic and became the first independent state in Latin America and the Caribbean in 1804. The current security situation is very serious, and German support focuses on humanitarian aid.
Haiti also has an honorary consul in Bremerhaven.

Entry requirements for Haiti
- A regular passport valid for at least six months (temporary passports and identity cards are not accepted)
- A return or onward ticket
- Cash for the tourism tax of USD 10 (or EUR 10 or CAD 10)

Visa information
Travelling from Germany to Haiti
The German Federal Foreign Office warns against travel to Haiti. Formally, German citizens do not need a visa for stays of up to three months.
- On arrival you fill in an entry form and a customs declaration. Part of the entry form must be shown again when you leave.
- Tourists and business travellers pay a tourism tax of 10 US dollars, euros or Canadian dollars.
- Stays of more than three months require a visa from the embassy before travel.

Haitian citizens need a Schengen visa. Applications are handled by the German Embassy in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The German Embassy in Port-au-Prince has very limited capacity. Legal and consular matters, including visas, are handled by the German Embassy in Santo Domingo. There is also an honorary consul in Cap-Haïtien. Germans in Haiti should register on the Federal Foreign Office’s crisis list (Elefand).
